Christian Influence in Our National Documents

Have you ever sat down and read any of the American documents? Our documents show that the nation was founded on the truths of God's Word...The Pilgrims came over on the Mayflower in 1620 to start a government that was based on the Bible. For example, the Mayflower Compact begins: In the Name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten,...having undertaken, for the glory of God, and the furtherance of the Christian faith...and in the New England Charter it stated:...to advance the enlargement of Christian religion, to the glory of God Almighty...Many of the documents of America show that the nation had made commitments to God...This type of law became the basis for our Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence was not based on the wants of the people, but on the laws of the Bible. It states that:...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights...

The fact that all fifty states refer to Almighty God of the universe in their Constitution, should prove that our nation was founded on Christian truths...Other examples of the constitutions include the Colorado Preamble, which states: We the people of Colorado, with profound reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe..., the South Dakota Preamble, which begins: We, the people of South Dakota, grateful to Almighty God, for our civil and religious liberties..., and the Florida Preamble, which states: We, the people of the State of Florida, being grateful to Almighty God for our constitutional liberty...The First Charter of Virginia starts out by saying, I, James, by the Grace of God, King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith...Reading the different documents should prove that this nation was founded on the Word of God. Regardless of what some people may think, we need the Lord just as much today as our forefathers did when they wrote the American documents.
